先日、アメリカ海兵隊USMCのための新しいセミオートスナイパーライフルSemi-Automatic Precision Weapon System(SAPWS)の調達情報が公開された。

陸軍のM110 SASSの海兵隊版とみなされている。7.62x51mm弾を使用し、シュミット＆ベンダー製のM8541 Scout Sniper Day Scope(SSDS)を装着できることが調達情報に盛り込まれている。海兵隊と言えばM14系のライフルのイメージもあるが（M14系のM39 EMRもSSDSを装着していた）、このSAPWSがどの銃になるかは分からない。
Defense Reviewでは同時期に発表されたLaRue社のTactical Stealth OSR (Optimized Sniper Rifle)を引き合いに出しているが…。
